11 Jun Sedona Art

Sedona, Arizona, is a spiritual center and melting pot of metaphysical stores, products, crystals and landscape backdrops of Red Rock and desert fauna. The desert reveals beauty and adventure with serene settings and rugged trails. Be sure you have your sun block, hat and stay hydrated while there. A walking stick might help as well.
Adjacent to the Sedona Airport is a great place to stay called the Sky Ranch Lodge Resort $$$. It has rustic rooms that are spacious and comfortable, You are within walking distance of trails to hike and a lookout that is breathtaking! The back patio to my room revealed a pond with lotus flowers. Since I am an artist, I set up my art materials on a small table on the patio and painted whatever I was inspired to paint. The picture in the upper left was one of those pieces of art. And as you can see there was ample space for my background setting.
Another piece of art when in Sedona, was secured on the bark of a tree.
It almost looks like a hand, which is part of the art, is holding the art in place. And, the background looks like it is part of the art. You will also see the shape of a heart in bark below the picture! You might ask what medium did I use for the art or what style is it? I use Sumi Ink from Japan, which is safe for the environment. Normally, I use black ink but there are other colors of ink that enhance the art as you can summarize from this piece. My style is what I call fantasy, abstract or Spirit art.
Lately, during my travels I bring my art supplies in case I find the opportunity to draw or paint. I am also a rock-hound, love crystals, and unusual pieces of jewelry, etc.
One of my favorite places to shop is at ‘Stone Age’ in Sedona. I save up before I go because I spend quite a lot of time there. The items personally selected are high quality and the store owner is very knowledgeable about the items, as well as, many other subjects. You will find your experience to be pleasant and intriguing! In fact, my Chakra Insights Oracle card deck is available there. I understand there is one deck left! So if you should plan a trip to Sedona come into the store and experience the ambiance it displays.
Art is a science, therapy, inspirational movement, and a healing experience. It is also a discovery of your own persona attracting the right medium and style that your soul needs at this time. If you are an artist you understand what I am saying, if not, try it. It is not about perfection. Maybe for you, your experience may be to help you relax, and let the strokes of art reveal hidden parts within you, that want to come out and express its self through you.
I will delve more about art through my intuitive art workshops with different mediums including ink, water color and acrylics. It is geared to expand expressive insights in the beginning stages, as well as, allowing more exercises that promote the experience, as it is not just about technique. You will find it to be free flowing, revealing and a natural way to relief stress and control.
Until next time… Blessings, Nancy Kimes
